...a Fallen Leaf favorite that feeds 8-12
Required Ingredients
2 ½ | Cup | Flour |
¾ | Cup | White Sugar |
1 | Cup | Light Brown Sugar |
1 | Teaspoon | Salt |
1 | Teaspoon | Nutmeg |
¾ | Cup | Salad oil |
1 | Teaspoon | Soda |
1 | Cup | Sour milk (or milk soured with lemon juice) |
1 | Teaspoon | Baking Powder |
1 | | Egg beaten lightly |
1 | Cup | Chopped pecans |
| | Cinnamon |
Preparation Instructions
- Mix well the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, salt and ground nutmeg. Mix with the salad oil until crumbly and remove a scant cup to reserve for topping.
- Mix together the soda, sour milk, baking powder and egg. Add to the above mixture.
- Pour into a buttered 9x13 baking pan.
- Sprinkle with the reserved topping, the nuts and cinnamon to taste.
- Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 20 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
